Campaign automation overview

Prev Next

Learn how Elaine automates single-channel and multi-channel customer communication using campaigns, triggers, decisions, and actions.

Key concepts

  • Entry logic places eligible contacts or records into an automation.
  •
  • States perform communication, data, wait, decision, event, or integration work. Communication states can represent different enabled channels within the same automation.
  •
  • Connections define allowed transitions and branches through the process.
  •
  • Goals and conversions connect campaign behavior to measurable outcomes.

How it works

  1. Define entry, exit, objective, owner, and expected volume.
  2.
  3. Model the minimum states and decisions required for the outcome.
  4.
  5. Attach approved messages, events, audiences, channel actions, and external dependencies.
  6.
  7. Validate every path, timeout, duplicate, and failure condition.
  8.
  9. Start in a controlled mode and monitor before scaling.

Governance and considerations

  • A running contact occupies a defined state; changes can affect in-flight processing.
  •
  • Design re-entry, concurrency, and duplicate handling explicitly.
  •
  • Keep long waits and event waits observable and removable.

Note

Exact UI labels, availability, and behavior can depend on the Elaine.io release, licensed capabilities, permissions, and project configuration.
