Learn how to prepare, import, validate, and review contact data in Elaine.
Before you start
- Prepare a UTF-8 file with one record per row, a documented header, stable identifiers, and values matching the target field types.
- Decide whether records are added, updated, replaced, subscribed, removed, blacklisted, or deleted.
- Select the correct contact group, data source, PAC mapping, and duplicate behavior.
Procedure
- Export or create a small representative sample and validate its encoding and delimiters.
- Map source columns to Elaine master or group fields.
- Run the import in the intended mode and review validation before processing the full file.
- Check counts for accepted, changed, skipped, rejected, and duplicate records.
- Reconcile a sample against the source system and retain the processing report.
Verify and operate
- Never infer broad consent or profiling permission merely because a record was imported.
- Test destructive modes such as replace or delete separately and require explicit approval.
- Large recurring transfers should use controlled SIEIS automation rather than manual uploads.
Note
Exact UI labels, availability, and behavior can depend on the Elaine.io release, licensed capabilities, permissions, and project configuration.
